Escape in Case of Fire

When there's a fire in the building you're in... ⚠️

❗❗Evaluate and decide whether to stay in the unit or leave quickly.

1️⃣ Stay in the unit

- Close the door and seal any gaps with wet towels and duct tape

- Hang a bed sheet or wave towels over a balcony or window to let the firefighters know your location

2️⃣ Escape to safety

- Prepare to escape the useful triplets: mobile phone, key, and wet towel

- Observe the corridor situation; if there is no smoke, leave the unit quickly

- Remember to close the door at your unit when leaving

- 🚫 Do not use the lift

- If there is smoke in the staircase, use another staircase immediately

- If there is no staircase with a safe passage, immediately turn back to your unit or try knocking on the doors of other units until you find a safe shelter

- If you are blocked by smoke, you should crawl onto the ground
